7 Random Things

In the spirit of Thanksgiving the 7 things I am grateful for:

  1. My family ~ I would not be a fraction of what I am today were it not for them. I am glad that although we are not perfect we are honest and supportive of one another.
  2. God answers prayers ~ I contended in prayer this summer for a handful of great female friends from whom I could lean on, learn from, and (hopefully) pour into. I am so thankful God brought me Leticia, Jess, Tasha, Nicole and Steph.
  3. I am appreciative of my God-given gifts ~ it took me awhile to get to this point of appreciation but with a lot of prayer, study and a bit of coaching from Joyce Meyer I can, truly, say that I walk in my gifts and do not covet another’s.
  4. That I have made progress in my personal life over the past six months with the epitome of clarification coming from time this fall. I am learning to accept my personal life for what it is while (slowly) letting go of what I thought was going to be the future and faithfully praying God will meet my heart’s desire.
  5. Generations ~ after fixing all of my grandmother’s Thanksgiving recipes I am grateful she taught us how to cook; the importance of tradition; and the love of family. (P.S. Mom and Stac helped a lot – don’t want to take credit for much).
  6. Hobby Lobby ~ and their 50% off sale the day before Thanksgiving. Watch out – Outlaw, Ink is in full-force!
  7. I hate pumpkin pie! So … I am grateful for all the other treats.

7 Random Things

This month became a deep reflection period for me… Here’s to a daily glimpse of me ~

  1. I aspire to be the baker my grandmother was
  2. I appreciate that I have inherited my mothers need to be fair rather than the world’s need to be right
  3. I hope I am a small anchor in Charcy’s past that helps stabilize her for the future
  4. In this season of harvest I hope to fulfill a need in someone (although, this is polar opposite of what I innately want …) God, help fulfill my purpose!
  5. So thankful my parents are coming to DC for both holidays this season! Can’t want to create in the kitchen!
  6.  How is it we set out on this path … only to be intersected … and set right for a greater purpose?
  7. Lastly, totally me – totally superficial – I LOVE SCANDAL!

7 Random Things

First day of the month you get 7 random things about me …

  1.  I love index cards. I write random notes on them – to-do lists, shopping lists, DCMC play-by-plays, need-to-remember importance, scriptures of encouragement!
  2.  There is – always - at least one recipe floating around in my bag or briefcase – usually torn out from bon appétit or Food & Wine.
  3.  I have (no less) than a dozen neutral shades of lip gloss in my bag – just in case the first 11 are not to my liking I have the one that will work.
  4.  I have an old school calendar that I carry around with me to keep my personal life on track even though I have had an iPhone since the day they came out. There is something about writing in a calendar that soothes my old soul.
  5.  I love October! First of all because its primary color it pumpkin orange!! Mostly I love this month because it symbolizes a season of change.  While most people balk at change I have always embraced it. Without change we are constant. Without change we do not grow. Without change God cannot move in our lives.
  6.  I love homemade pumpkin ravioli but suck at making it – wish I were Italian and had a knack for making pasta dough. Thank you to a group of lovely ladies who bring backup Popeye’s but appreciated my attempt nonetheless.
  7.  It is harder to come up with 7 fascinating facts about oneself than initially thought. Hope I gave you a brief glimpse into a “little more of me.”
